SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is is intended to validate if an email message was sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain will prevent the faking of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send emails from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever a new email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through tests if it originates from an accredited server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, but when it doesn't come from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you're distributing spam. This technique is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our advanced Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to select one of your domains from the drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be certified to send emails from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This feature offers you the best level of protection, but it is not applicable if only your site is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are taken care of somewhere else. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to protect your email addresses by activating the SPF protection service for any domain name hosted in the account with only a couple of clicks. This can be done from the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even when you have no previous experience with these things, you will not have any troubles to enable the protection. The only things that you'll need to do will be to choose a domain name from a drop-down menu and after that type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be delivered worldwide only if they were sent from that particular server. If your email addresses are managed by us and not by a third-party supplier, you'll also be able to benefit from an option for e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain contains our MX records and the aforementioned would be the most secure option. If you have any questions about thisfunction, you will be able to contact our support team 24/7.
