When you add a domain as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific service provider. On their end, three records are set up automatically the moment the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain address where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that manages the emails for that particular domain name. The site and the email hosting are often thought to be one thing, when they're in fact two different services. Having separate records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you would like. For instance, some new service provider might have outstanding uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain name to the first and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a website or send an e-mail - in either case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain name is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed website or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting account with our company and you want to direct either your website or your e-mails to a different provider, it is going to take you literally only 2 clicks to do it. Our Hepsia CP comes with an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically and you're going to be able to see and change the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you wish to use a different email provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the standard two, it is not going to take more than a few clicks either to add them. You could also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the higher the priority a particular MX record is going to have. The propagation of each record that you modify or create will not take more than a few hours and if necessary, you will also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, which reveals how long a record will stay active after it is modified or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the semi-dedicated servers we provide, you'll have full control over the records of all domain names and subdomains you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each of them has from the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting CP and changing any record takes simply a few clicks. If you decide to change your web or email hosting provider, you can update the necessary record and direct your domain to the other company for one of the services, as you still carry on using the other one through us. Also you can keep the main domain here, while you edit the A record of only one of its subdomains. When you're changing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard 2 we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for each one.
